In the eighteenth century, Palazzo Chigi Zondadari became an artistic and cultural landmark in Siena thanks to the patronage of the family of the same name, linked to Roman circles. The Palazzo, designed in late Baroque style by architects of the Bernini school and established artists, is distinguished by its exceptional courtyard and rich interior decoration. The intention was to bring the elegance of Roman culture to the heart of the city. Even in the 19th century, with Agostino Fantastici, the palace retained a prominent role. Today, the “Cortemporanea” project renews this vocation through contemporary art.
