The Palazzo

The architectural features that define the building express the prominent position of the Chigi Zondadari family.

A late Baroque Roman treasure chest that emerges in the configuration of Piazza del Campo as a symbol of the prominent role assumed by the family in Siena. Built between 1724 and 1726, the building mainly served representative functions.

Art

Born in 2022 from an idea and initiative by Flavio Misciattelli, president of the Palazzo Chigi Zondadari Foundation, CORTEMPORANEA is a curatorial project that every year transforms the courtyard and halls of the main floor into an exhibition space dedicated to site-specific works by Italian and international artists.
A play on words between courtyard and contemporary, it becomes an invitation to experience a unique dialogue between today's art and historical architecture. Each year, the palace becomes a stage for new interpretations, welcoming the work of artists who reimagine the courtyard and interior architecture through their own eyes.
